MIZUNA HARVEST

I spent a day at a family-run farm in Miki, near Kobe, as the father and son harvested their mizuna (Japanese mustard) crop.

The father and son carefully culled the plants by hand and tied them in individual parcels. The farm belongs to one of the 694 regional agriculture cooperatives that provide the packaging, transport and marketing framework for Japan’s small independent farmers.
