THE BRIEF

The online bakery in South East London, which specialises in European cakes, was about to open for business and needed eye-catching dessert photography to use on their e-commerce site. The Amber Sand Bakery uses only the finest local ingredients and offers traditional cakes with a contemporary twist. They offer a variety of bespoke homemade cakes, cupcakes, tarts, macaroons and zefir using only high-quality raw ingredients.

THE SOLUTION

Working with my assistant and the client, we used various backgrounds and food props with the cakes to create a variety of food images that showcased the artistry and passion of each cake. The images needed to be stunning and eye-catching but also to show the details of each cake clearly.

We chose rustic textures and seasonal fruits to create simple but stunning images.

The client brought beautiful flowers, handmade mini-meringues and dried oranges, which we used to dress the cakes and the set. A combination of natural light and flash lighting was used to create a natural but contemporary look.

In one day, we produced over 30 images for the online store as well as social media.
