BACKGROUND

From 1 August 2022, Tik Tok users are be able to purchase fresh food directly from brands including Chefs For Foodies, Pasta Evangelists, The Fish Society, The Veg Box Company, By Ruby and EXALT by downloading the TikTok app and going to their TikTok Shop pages.

The pandemic saw food trends skyrocket on TikTok. Even Gordon Ramsay (yes, the one with the Michelin stars) created short videos to duet home cooks’ recipes on TikTok with the #RamsayReacts hashtag.

Keeping. Images & videos fresh and fun is the key to success. You have just 8 seconds to capture the attention of Gen Z, so the most successful content is short, snappy and reels them in quickly.

THE SHOOT

Here are some shots I did with luxury meal kit brand Chef For Foodies for their new Tik Tok Shop. We shot made and shot 4 recipes.

Love the bold look we created with the hard lighting, shadows and colourful photography backdrops. Especially happy with the vegan products like the jam packed Eatplanted kebabs, crispy sweet potato fries and brownies. Vegan is no longer the boring choice!

The lighting set up was relatively simple. One small soft box from the side. Used some new vinyl back drops I bought in Japan over the summer. It was definitely worth the effort lugging them back to the UK. The faux leather absorbs and reflects the light just the right amount, keeping the images punchy and vibrant.
